Tree Pearl, 2012

Multi-media installation with video projection.
Dimensions variable.

Tree Pearl is a sculptural installation that explores the healing of trauma through the metaphor of a pearl. This piece features a geometric pearl, meticulously crafted from mirror pieces, embedded within a tree trunk.

The pearl, symbolizing the process of healing, draws inspiration from the natural formation of pearls, which occur when an irritant becomes coated in layers of nacre over time, transforming into a beautiful, lustrous object. In Tree Pearl, the geometric form of the pearl, composed of reflective mirror fragments, embodies the multifaceted nature of trauma and the complex journey toward healing. The mirrors reflect and refract light, creating a dynamic interplay of colors and reflections that symbolize the transformation of pain into resilience and beauty.
